The Secretaries General of the European Union Parliaments meet at the Senate

The Meeting of the Secretaries General of the European Union Parliaments (EUSG) has been celebrated at the Senate as part of the parliamentary dimension of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union. The purpose of this yearly forum is to prepare for the Conference of the Speakers of EU Parliaments (EUSC), which will take place from 21 to 23 April.

The speaker of the Upper House, Pedro Rollán, the secretary general of the Senate, Sara Sieira, and the secretary general of the Congress of Deputies, Fernando Galindo, have inaugurated the meeting at 10:00 am.

In the first session, the Secretary General of the Congress of Deputies has presented the EUSC programme draft. The second session has addressed the upcoming European elections scheduled for 6-9 June. Alessandro Chiocchetti, Secretary General of the European Parliament, and Jan Deltour (TBC), Secretary General of the House of Representatives in Belgium, have been in attendance. The Secretary General of the Senate will moderate this session.

Radek Jiránek, Secretary General of the Senate of the Czech Republic, has presented the annual report of IPEX, the InterParliamentary EU Information Exchange for the European Union, during the third session of the day. Martin Plísek, the Secretary General of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, has presented the conclusions on IPEX.

The fourth session has addressed various issues, including the status of the project for a European videoconferencing system.
